Media Boo
Terms of use
Effective 27 October 2026
In short: Media Boo is free to use. You stay in charge of what you share and who you let in. Use it lawfully, share only what you have the right to share, and keep your own backups. We provide it as it is.
1. Who we are
Media Boo is owned and made by Quru Lab Limited ("Quru Lab", "we", "us"). These terms cover the Media Boo apps for Mac, Windows, Linux and Android, their updates, and this website, mediaboo.com (together, "Media Boo").
2. Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, installing or using Media Boo you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use Media Boo for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to. If you don't agree, don't use Media Boo.
3. Your licence to use Media Boo
We give you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Media Boo on devices you own or control, for personal or business use, while you follow these terms. Quru Lab keeps all rights in Media Boo, including its software, name, logo and design. You must not:
- copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Media Boo, or offer modified versions of it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or take apart Media Boo, except where the law allows it despite this term;
- remove or change any notices of ownership in Media Boo;
- get around its security, such as network keys, host approval or encryption.
Download Media Boo only from mediaboo.com or another source we name. Copies from elsewhere may be altered and unsafe.
4. How Media Boo works
Media Boo connects devices on the same local network directly. It has no accounts and no cloud: your files go from one device to another and are never uploaded to Quru Lab. One device hosts each network, holds its key, approves who joins and keeps the network's activity log. Each device chooses one public folder that members of its network can open, download from and add files to.
5. Your responsibilities
What you share
- You decide what goes in your public folder and what you send. Anyone you let into your network can open, download and add to your public folder.
- Share only files you own or have permission to share, and respect other people's privacy and rights.
- Check files from others before opening them. Media Boo doesn't scan files for viruses.
If you host a network
- You choose who joins and are responsible for keeping your network key private.
- Your device keeps an activity log of members' details and file activity. Handle it responsibly and lawfully, and tell members it exists if the law where you are requires it.
- Remove anyone who shouldn't be in your network.
Using Media Boo lawfully
You must not use Media Boo to:
- share content that is illegal, infringes someone's copyright or other rights, or harms children;
- spread malware, or access devices, networks or data you're not allowed to;
- harass, deceive or harm anyone;
- break the rules of a network you use, such as a workplace's IT policy.
6. Your files are yours
You keep all rights in your files. We never receive them, so we can't see, recover or restore them. Files can be deleted or changed by members of your network, a device can fail and a transfer can be interrupted, so keep your own backups of anything that matters.
7. Updates and changes
The desktop app checks mediaboo.com for updates and asks before installing them. Some updates may be needed to keep Media Boo working or secure. We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering Media Boo, at any time.
8. Other services
Media Boo runs on your operating system, network and devices, which are provided by others under their own terms. We're not responsible for them.
9. No warranty
Media Boo is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or suitable for your purpose, and we exclude all implied warranties, including of quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Quru Lab is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, files, profits, business or goodwill, arising from your use of Media Boo or from what others in your network do;
- our total liability to you for any claim about Media Boo is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, which for free use is nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.
11. Responsibility for your use
You agree to cover Quru Lab against claims and losses that arise from content you share through Media Boo or from your breach of these terms, to the extent the law allows.
12. Ending use
You can stop using Media Boo at any time by uninstalling it. If you break these terms, your licence to use Media Boo ends. Sections 6 and 9 to 13 continue to apply after that.
13. Changes to these terms and the law that applies
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and say so in the app or on this website if a change is significant. Using Media Boo after a change means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Quru Lab Limited is incorporated, and its courts deal with any dispute, unless the law where you live says otherwise. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
